- You need 1 can of lentils or 1 cup dried lentils, soaked and boiled.
- You need 400 gms of fresh italian sauages, casing removed and broken into bite size pieces.
- You need 1 of large onion diced.
- You need 1 stalk of celery chopped - optional.
- It's 3 of garlic cloves chopped.
- You need 1/2 can of chopped tomatoes or 3 medium size tomatoes chopped.
- You need 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder or 2-3 italian red chillies.
- You need 1 tbsp of olive oil.
- It's 1/2 cup of red wine (optional).
- It's to taste of Salt and Pepper.
- Prepare 1 of bay leaf- optional, parsley to garnish.

- On medium heat, place a deep bottom pan, when hot, add oil, sausages, cook until sausages are browned, add onions, celery and garlic and cook another 5 minutes, add red wine and cook until the alcohol evaporates about 2-3 minutes..
- Now add tomatoes, continue cooking for another 5 minutes, add lentils, bayleaf, bring to a boil cover and cook for 10 minutes on low heat, check for seasoning, turn heat off, and let it rest for 10 minutes..
